firefighters since 1981.

Procedure:
Jackson-Pollack Formula
Scoring: 2.75 X pounds of lean body weight. -1.75 points per body fat percentage above 19%.
Male: 23% or higher Red. 19.1-22.9% Yellow. 19% or less Green-Ideal.
Female:  27% or higher Red. 23.1-26.9% Yellow. 23% or less Green-Ideal.

Bioelectrical Impedance Body Composition Testing

This measurement will be considered if it is within 2% of the skin fold measurement.

Grip Strength- The Fire Service Joint Labor Management Wellness-Fitness Initiative 3rd Edition

Procedure. Arm bent at 90 degrees. Maximum effort using right and left hand. Highest score in Kg obtained on either hand used.
Scoring: Kg X 2.75
Male: Less than 50 kg Red. 50-59.9 kg yellow. 60kg+ Green-Ideal.
Female: Less than 30 kg Red. 30-37.9 kg yellow. 38 kg+ Green-Ideal.

Isometric Bicep Strength Test- The Fire Service Joint Labor Management Wellness-Fitness Initiative 3rd Edition

Procedure:
Cable dynamometer system.
Protocol:
Stand erect on the platform with arms bent at 90 degrees (adjust chain), feet shoulder width apart, body erect and back straight. Maximum force (pull) for 3 seconds. Rest 30
seconds. Repeat 3 times. Highest score recorded in KG.
Scoring: Kg X 2
Male: Less than 38 kg Red. 38-49.9 kg Yellow. 50+kg Green-Ideal
Female: Less than 22 kg Red. 22-26.9 kg Yellow. 27+kg Green-Ideal

Vertical Jump- The Fire Service Joint Labor Management Wellness-Fitness Initiative 3rd Edition

Procedure: A standard reach measurement will be taken while standing straight with one arm extended overhead. This measurement will be used to set the zero point of the jump
apparatus. Maximum inches jump will be recorded.
Scoring: Inches X 5.75
Power/Watts Determination:
Power formula: Leg Power (watts) = [(60.7×jump height (cm)) + (45.3×body weight (kg))] – 2055. Height in inches to centimeters (# inches × 2.54 = cm) Body weight in pounds to
kilograms (# lbs ÷ 2.2 = kg). Hose Power=Watts/475.7.
2 points per horse power.
Male: Less than 18 inches Red. 18.5-20.5 Yellow. 21+ inches Green-Ideal. 5

Plank Hold- The Fire Service Joint Labor Management Wellness-Fitness Initiative 3rd Edition

Procedure:
Amendment: A 25lb weight will be placed on the upper back. No time limit.
Lay prone, keeping upper body elevated and supported by the elbows. Raise hips and legs off the floor, supporting the body on forearms and toes. Position elbows directly under
the shoulders. Maintain straight body alignment from shoulder through hip, knee and ankle. The ankles should maintain a 90°angle; the scapulae should remain stabilized with
elbows at 90°. The spine should remain in a neutral position throughout the assessment. Once the feet are in position, the participant then extends the knees, lifting off the floor.
Any deviations from the above posture will warrant 2 verbal warnings. If a 3rd infraction occurs stop the test
up to a 4 min. max. time.
Scoring:
Seconds hold X (25/body weight X 10) X seconds X .75).
Male/Female: >1 min Red. 1 min-1 min 59 seconds Yellow. 2 min Green-Ideal.

60 Degree Flexion Test

Procedure:
Sit with feet strapped on a bench and place upper body at an angle of 60 degrees. The arms are folded across the chest. Position held until the upper body falls below 60 degree
angle
or 4 minute max. time.
Scoring:
Seconds hold X (25/body weight X 10) X seconds X .75)).
Male/Female: >1 min Red. 1 min-1 min 59 seconds Yellow. 2 min Green-Ideal.

Measure Max VO2 12 Lead Treadmill Stress Test- The Fire Service Joint Labor Management Wellness-Fitness Initiative 3rd Edition

Procedure: One-minute increments with increasing speed until desired speed is achieved. Then one-minute increments with increasing elevation until maximum exertion is
achieved. Measure MaxVO2, aerobic threshold, anaerobic threshold, oxygen extraction %, substrate utilization (% of fat and carbohydrates utilized at specific heart rates), cardiac
output and heart rate training zones will be determined.
Scoring: ml/kg/min X 3.
Male/Female: Less than 40 ml/kg/min Red. 40-44.9 ml/kg/min Yellow. 45 ml/kg/min or more Green - Ideal.

Sit and Reach Flexibility Test- The Fire Service Joint Labor Management Wellness-Fitness Initiative 3rd Edition

Procedure: Right and left leg flexibility.
*This test is used for the Physical Fitness Age only, no points scored for the Physical Performance Test.

Horizontal Chest-To-Bar Pull-Ups-NLIA (Norwegian Labor Inspection Authority)
           
Protocol: Weight Vest: 40 pounds
Horizontal Beam: 5.5 inches width
Bar Height: Adjusted so that when the beam (a 5.5-inch beam will replace the bar) is gripped (hands facing in) and hung down with straight arms, the shoulder joints are at the
same level as the heels.
Procedure: With heels on bench, pull up until the chest touches the bar. Total recorded.
Scoring: 40/body weight X 10 X Reps X 8
Male: Less than 7: Red. 7-14 Yellow. 15+ Green-Ideal.
Female: Less than 4: Red. 4-9 Yellow. 10+ Green-Ideal.

Squat and Raise- NLIA (Norwegian Labor Inspection Authority)
            
Protocol:
Weight Vest: 50 pounds.
Procedure:
Two hands placed on a bar at the height of the hips. A cross bar will be placed in a position that represents a bend of 90 degrees of the knees when touched. The upward squat
is completed with a toe raise. Arms are kept straight during the test. Maximum reps in 4 minutes.
Scoring: 50/body weight X 10 X Reps
Maximum Limit: 150
Male: 39 or less Red. 40-59 Yellow. 60+ Green-Ideal
Female: 18 or less Red. 19-24 Yellow. 25+ Green-Ideal

Push-Ups- NLIA (Norwegian Labor Inspection Authority)

Protocol:
Weight Vest: 50 pounds.
Procedure: Chin touches a 5-inch prop. Arms extended in up position. Total recorded.
Scoring: 50/body weight X 10 X Reps X 4
Male: 11 or less: Red. 12-17 Yellow. 18+ Green-Ideal
Female: 5 or less: Red. 6-9 Yellow. 10+ Green-Ideal
